Komen Utah Awards over $366,000 to Local Breast Health Grantees

In our 2016-17 grant cycle, Susan G. Komen awarded more than $366,000 to local nonprofit partners to provide screening, treatment, support programs, and education for underserved women and men in our communities.

2016-2017 Komen Utah Grantees

Active Re-Entry-PERKIE Travels: provides daily transportation from Emery and Carbon counties for cancer patients, including those with breast cancer, to receive radiation treatments and medical services in Utah County.

Alliance Community Services: Provides monthly Spanish language support group in Salt Lake City as well as a Community Health Worker navigation program within the Latina community.

Cancer Wellness House:  has developed a unique program that addresses physical, emotional and social needs of individuals and families dealing with breast cancer.

Community Nursing Services:  provides home health and hospice care for breast cancer patients in their care.

Comunidades Unidas:  runs a program for immigrant and refugee women providing navigation and case management services, as well as breast health education with direct referrals to and assistance attending screening services and follow-up.

Fourth Street Clinic: runs a free mammography screening program for uninsured, homeless women in Utah.

Huntsman Cancer Institute: will be providing practical support for rural, underserved breast cancer patients while in treatment, including transportation costs, lodging, etc.  In addition, a new educational and support group for metastatic breast cancer patients will be formed.

Intermountain Healthcare: will provide free screening and low-cost diagnostic services for low-income, uninsured and underserved women in Salt Lake County.

Maliheh Free Clinic:  provides free services to uninsured and underserved women in the Greater Salt Lake area by providing breast health education, clinical breast exams and onsite screening mammography to all eligible clinic patients.

People’s Health Clinic, Inc.:  provides free clinical breast exams and mammography to uninsured, ethnically diverse women aged 40 and over in Summit and Wasatch counties.

Quality Life Community:  provides free yoga classes to breast cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers.
